Introduction to Meladine
Lasers use naturally occurring melanin in the hair follicle as a target to selectively disable the follicle while leaving surrounding skin structure intact. However, lighter hair has too little melanin to provide an effective target for the laser, so people with blonde, gray, red or white hair have not been suitable candidates for laser hair removal…until now. Meladine is a topical melanin encased liposome solution which, when sprayed on the desired area, selectively deposits natural melanin directly into the hair follicle without staining surrounding skin. The proprietary liposomes, actually submicroscopic spheres, are small enough to effectively penetrate the hair follicle, but are not taken up by the blood stream. The result is melanin rich follicles, which allows patients with non-pigmented hair to benefit from last hair removal. FDA approved.
