CO2 Fractional Laser Treatment

Co2 Fractional treatment

This treatment is the ultimate in skin care rejuvenation!

What is CO2 Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing?

CO2 is a Carbon Dioxide laser that has been used for more than 25 years in the Aesthetic Industry for treatment of skin conditions such as fine and coarse wrinkles, scars of various origin, uneven pigmentation and dilated pores.  When a CO2 beam of light comes in contact with the epidermis, it heats and vaporizes the skin tissue, instantly removing the superficial layers of the skin, scars and wrinkles while smoothing out the surface of the skin.  This skin remodeling occurs with new skin and collagen growth.

Fractional Skin Resurfacing and its Benefits

Fractional Skin Resurfacing is a revolutionary delivery system that allows patients to achieve healthier, younger looking skin with minimal pain in a shorter period of time.  The MiXto combines the benefits of a CO2 laser with a micro spot size of 300 microns that can treat 20-100% of the scanned area.  Using a computerized pattern generator and a new scanning algorithm, thermal heat is dispersed within the epidermis while evenly treating damaged areas.  This particular algorithm dramatically reduces pain, the need for anesthesia and recovery time.  Single treatments can show a significant improvement in skin tone and texture..  Fractional treatment with the MiXto SX has been proven safe for the face, neck, chest and hands.

A consultation and clinical examination will be conducted before to obtain relevant information about your medical and dermatologic history along with any medications you are currently taking or have taken in the recent past.

The Mixto SX Pro Slim Micro Fractional CO2 Laser is the most advanced laser for skin resurfacing. Treatments can lighten sun damage and pigmentation, lift fine wrinkles, remove freckles, age spots and discolorations, reduce pore size, soften scars and tighten skin. Patients continue to see additional improvements as collagen builds over the following several months.

Intense Pulsed Light/Photofacial

About an IPL/Photofacial

skin rejuvenation

An Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)/Photofacial is a treatment used to improve the appearance of sun damaged skin, age/sun spots, rosacea and broken capillaries. The light energy stimulates the production of collagen; and, as this new collagen forms, there is a decrease in fine lines/wrinkles and improvement in acne scarring. The skin becomes smoother and more even in tone.

There is a high degree of patient satisfaction with an IPL/Photofacial treatment. An IPL can be used to treat the face, neck, chest, hands, arms and legs.

There is little or no downtime with an IPL/Photofacial.

What to Expect During an IPL/Photofacial Treatment

The area being treated is thoroughly cleansed. Thereafter, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area for 20 – 40 minutes. The numbing cream is then removed and a cool gel is applied. Sometimes during treatment, an air cooling system is used to increase patient comfort. Pulses of light energy are delivered to the targeted area. Patients describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snap. Once the IPL/Photofacial treatment is completed, the gel is removed, and a moisturizer and sunscreen are applied.

An IPL/Photofacial treatment takes 30 – 60 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Side Effects of an IPL/Photofacial

Immediately following treatment, the skin usually appears red. Brown pigmented spots darken, and capillaries are more visible. The lesions will continue to darken until they flake off or are absorbed by the body. In rare instances, swelling, bruising and/or blistering may occur.
How Many IPL/Photofacial Treatments Are Required

For optimal results, a series of 3 – 5 treatments are usually required. The treatments are 3 – 4 weeks apart. To maintain the results, follow-up treatments may be given once a year.

Pre-Treatment Care

We ask that our patients stop using retinoids 2 days prior to treatment with IPL/Photofacial and that they have no suntan or artificial color on their skin.

Post-Treatment Care

For about 5 days after an IPL/Photofacial treatment, avoid retinoids, glycolics, exfoliators, or any other topical skin care product which may irritate the skin. Apply moisturizer and sunscreen during this time. Makeup may also be applied. A good home skincare routine, as well as the daily use of sunscreen, is important to maintaining the results of this treatment. We can help you determine what is right for your skin.
