Bad health habits to avoid

Sleeping with makeup on

Even though it might seem harmless, sleeping too often with your makeup on can bring you serious consequences in the long run. In the immediate future, not removing your makeup can lead to bacterial infections and clogged pores, which can cause acne. The residue of the makeup on your pillow can even be detrimental to your skin.

Too much coffee and tea

Caffeine can be a major cause of dehydration, which causes dry skin and the magnification of wrinkles. It’s easy to fall into the trap, and get hooked on coffee, but everything in moderation. Make sure to drink lots of water, eat water-filled fruits and other sources of water like veggies. Drinking water for health

Skipping Sunblock

About 90% of our wrinkles come from sun damage, only 10% are due to genetics. We need to use sunscreen on a daily basis, and even re-apply as needed. It’s recommended to use a 30 SPF sunblock, and preferably use a “broad-spectrum” one, to protect against both UVA and UVB rays.

Smoking

Smoking is not only bad for your lungs and heart, but the mechanics of smoking alone contribute to fine lines and wrinkles in our face. When smokers press their lips to inhale, they get lip lines; and, when smoke goes near the eyes, smokers squint, which gets them crow’s feet. It also increases the risk of skin cancer, and makes your skin sallow and slow to healing.

Too Much Sugar Intake

Sugar is known to increase inflammation in the body, and produces enzymes that break down the elastin and collagen much faster. This results in skin sagging and wrinkles. So, be sure to lower the intake level of refined carbs and sugars and increase fiber intake.

With a good diet, exercise, sunblock, plenty water and sleep, your skin will glow and keep in good shape. Read more about how to get rid of dark spots in your skin and how coconut oil is nature’s magic solution for our bodies.
