Slough away dead skin cells to reveal a new glow

We recently shared a post on how to make your own moisturizers at home to fight winter’s harsh weather. Moisturizing is essential, and so is exfoliating and giving your skin a good deep cleanse. Even though you don’t feel your skin flaky or dull, regular exfoliation can help you achieve great-looking skin. Skin exfoliation by the use of scrubs helps you remove dead cells and any other dirt that can clog your pores and cause outbreaks. By vigorously exfoliating your body, you can also activate blood circulation to help reduce cellulite and improve your skin’s appearance. Today, we share with you some recipes for easy-to-make scrubs to exfoliate your skin in winter.

Recipes for Winter Skin Scrubs

Citric Salt Morning Scrub

Sea salt or Epsom salt is a fantastic ingredient to use in scrubs. The salt crystals help scrub out your skin and exfoliate it deeply. Here’s a simple recipe that will leave your skin soft and exfoliated without leaving it dry.

1 cup of olive oil
1 cup sea salt
1 tbsp lemon zest
2 drops of a citric essential oil (grapefruit, orange, lemon)

Mix all ingredients together and keep them in a jar with a lid. In the shower, wet your skin and massage the scrub in circles on your skin. Rinse with abundant water and once dry decide if it’s necessary to add an extra moisturizer as the olive oil will remain on your skin.

Oatmeal and Honey Scrub

Oatmeal in this scrub gives an extra hand to sugar in the exfoliating department. You can also substitute sugar with salt in this recipe. Honey is an amazing skin moisturizer. Use this scrub once you’re bathed, and dry pat yourself some before applying the scrub. Rinse with warm water.

1/2 cup oats
1/4 cup baby oil/olive oil (or any other oil)
1 1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey

Combine all ingredients together and save them in a jar or lidded bowl.

Delicious Gingerbread Sugar Scrub Recipe

Sugar is also an ideal ingredient in scrubs as its crystals also help remove dead cells and impurities. This scrub smells so deliciously you will want to eat it! Massage over your body and rinse with warm water instead.

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup almond oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinammon
1/2 tsp all spice
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Combine all dry ingredients in a mason jar or similar. Then, gradually add the coconut oil and almond oil until it reaches the consistency you wish.
