Skin Resurfacing: Microdermabrasion and Dermaplane treatment

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a general term for the application of tiny rough grains that buff away the dead cells from the surface layer of the skin. There are two main elements used, first an exfoliating material like crystals or diamond flakes; and, a suction-based machine that gently removes the skin during the exfoliation. Since skin regenerates at approximately 30-day intervals, skin improvements with microdermabrasion are temporary, and treatment should be repeated for continued improvement.

There are many advantages to the use of this treatment, such as: improving age spots and blackheads, improving patches of darkened skin, exfoliating your skin which results in a more refreshed appearance, lessening the appearance of stretch marks, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, reducing or eliminating enlarged pores, treating acne and reducing superficial acne scars.

Dermaplane Treatment

This is also a manual exfoliating treatment; that is painless, quick and requires no recovery time. In Dermaplaning, a surgical blade is used to remove dead skin cells on the outermost layer of the skin. It also ends up removing unwanted facial hair and peach fuzz, resulting in an ultra-smooth look. This treatment can help improve the look of scars, smooth out fine facial wrinkles, and can also be used to remove pre-cancerous growths. It can also be used to treat deep acne scars.
