This is a chemical peel used with the application of topical skin care products that aid in the treatment of acne. This is a very safe peel and is suitable for all skin types, especially those with oily or acne prone skin.

Active ingredients in Jessner Peel

Salicylic Acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid and is the only oil soluble acid used in skin care. This makes it particularly suited to acne prone skin and oily skin types. Salicylic acid helps dissolve the dirt, sebum and debris in your pores that cause blackheads, enlarged pores and acne outbreaks. It also helps reduce oil production and provides gentle exfoliation.
Lactic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy acid that helps encourage cell turnover and stimulates collagen formation while helping to smooth and soften the skin.
Resorcinol is an effective exfoliator that helps loosen the damaged skin layers to expose the new fresh skin beneath while also stimulating collagen to form.

Types of acne and suggested treatments

Comedonal (non-inflammatory) acne: containing such ingredients as triclosan, salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, retinoids, topical can be effective for people with mild acne, and are widely available.

Mild papulo-pustular (inflammatory) acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids, topical antibiotics (such as erythromycin).

Moderate inflammatory acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids combined with oral antibiotics (tetracyclines). Isotretinoin is an option.

Severe inflammatory acne, nodular acne, acne resistant to the above treatments: isotretinoin, or contraceptive pills with cyproterone for females with virilization or drospirenone.
